Mas Info de Bebe Stuff

We had our first appt. with the new OB today! well, mostly with the nurse-midwife technically. :) we got to hear the baby's heartbeat! and we (or at least, I) felt kinda silly because I realized that the heartbeat that we were all ooo'ing and ahhh'ing about the other night with Chuck & Sandy's monitor was MINE. lol. the baby's was much faster and i was like "d'oh!". :D also, i think i'm going to trash our wonky scale, because at the doctor's i was only down 5 pounds, not 10.

Anyway, nothing much to report except that we are super excited and our next appt. is March 28th.

P.s. Oh, and we signed up for a Healthy Pregnancy class through the hospital, that's on Monday nite. and sometime before Cyndie leaves for her "Social Science Analyst" summer internship with the Census in Washington DC, we're all going to take the infant care class. pretty exciting!

Chuck Norris, This is for YOU!

Chuck & Sandy lent us their Fetal Doppler Monitor last nite. It was so cool! Mark found the baby's heartbeat right away, it was really amazing. :) I'm sure we'll hear it again tomorrow morning at the doctor's office, but it was really neat to be able to do it ourselves at home. Thanks Chuck Norris, loyal reader of this blog! lol.

12 weeks pregnant!

ewwww, ya so the morning sickness sort of came back and it's mixed with sinus pressure and drainage. last nite i felt awful and ended up in bed for most of the evening. of course, that could have been because i didn't eat for 6 hours.

the weirdest thing about being pregnant so far is for someone who is a "good eater", all of a sudden i have no urge to eat really. i forget when i last ate and i can only tell i'm hungry when i start to feel really sick. most food just doesn't sound good either. and most days i just eat handfuls of raisins and yogurt and stuff all day just to make sure. i weighed today and i'm down 10 pounds now according to our scale.

Next doctor's appt. on Friday at 9:15am!

11 weeks, 1 day

Mark's job rulez in many ways, but #1 in my book is that he gets every bank holiday off. So I dragged him to Babies R Us today and handed him a scanner. Registering is F.U.N.! We even managed to pick out quite a few practical items. Mark went a little crazy on the toys though. I think he scanned 5 different versions of the same rattle because they were all different animals and he thought they were cute. lol.

So this is how we entertain ourselves while we wait for baby to arrive. :) Really there isn't much to do right now except read our 9 million books. We're going to take some classes starting in March which will be fun. We're going to try to take a Bradley Method class, attachment parenting(baby wearing), baby food making, breast feeding and of course the hospital offered classes.

We've got our first appt. with the new doctor on Feb. 29th which is 2 days before the 2nd Trimester starts.

I can't wait until spring and then we can actually start working on the house and the nursery and really doing some serious preparing for baby. I guess for now I'll just bore all of our 4 loyal readers with my incessant baby chatter. lol.

Black Velvet

While I'm at it, here's a pic of Pete doing what he does best, besides running crazily through the house tearing up the hardwood with his dragon talons. He's all like "hey ladies, look how shiny I am!"

Clearly, I have time on my hands...

Since Lhamo doesn't get much face time on this blog, here is a whole entry devoted to her Highness.

If you'll remember (or scroll) back a few weeks you'll see a picture of Lhamo interrupting Cyndie doing homework. This is what Lhamo likes to do. She is an "interrupter" and also a "hostage taker". Mostly her m.o. is to wait until you are about to get up from the couch and then cutely crawls on to your lap and turns on the fluffy purring cute-a-tron which immediately forces you to conceed to sitting on the couch for another 20 minutes, a hostage of her cuteness.

Tonite there was a unique opportunity to catch her doing both at once! She not only interrupted Mark playing his stupid racing game that I hate, but also took him hostage in a weird uncomfortable game playing position and forced him to pet her in between races. lol.

Sticker Shock

Just for fun, I grabbed a zapper today at Target and started adding a few things to our baby registry. Yes, I know it's kinda early for that, but it's exciting for me. Anyways, I started realizing that this stuff is EXPENSIVO. I'm hoping we can beg, borrow, or garage sale most of the big stuff, but just for the heck of it, I did put some big ticket items on the registry. It's really fun to zap things with that gun doodad!

I started registries at both Target and Babies R Us. There really isn't much there yet, I was just playing around really.

Also, this store is opening up in Lee's Summit soon that looks pretty awesome: Happybottomus

If you guys haven't guessed yet, I'm pretty in to anything organic, natural or earth friendly. We're going to experiment with glass bottles, which are making a comeback, as well as some new hybrid diapers. Check these out: GDiapers

I rule!

Check it out, one of my pics from SanFran is being used in an online guide to the city!

New Doc

Well, we decided to switch to Dr. Tami Michele! She was a childbirth educator and doula for 13 years before she became an OB/GYN. She works with nurse midwife Kelly Fritz who has 25 years experience. They specialize in natural birth in a hospital setting. totally awesome!

After talking to them for just a few minutes they told me I was way ahead of the game and it sounded like I was going to "grow up" to be a childbirth educator. lol. That's probably not a bad idea! :D

Olathe Medical Center: The Birth Place

P.S. Mark wanted to add that he and the IT dept. at US Central think that Dr. Michele looks like Wonder Woman (Linda Carter). Here's a pic, you decide:

Whooo Hooooo!!!

I'm on my fifth day with no queasies and increased energies! yayyyyyyyyy! I think this is the beginning of the end of "morning" sickness for me, and just when I thought I couldn't take it any longer!

I've felt so good the last day or so that I started one of our baby registries online and am really super tempted to go get a maternity outfit this weekend (even though I'm not showing at all yet). I'm sooooooo excited!! I can be less nervous now, as we're so close to the 2nd trimester! two weeks to go!

We have started working with our Doula, Sarah, who is super awesome! Here's her website: http://www.mamasara.com

We're meeting with an OB today that Sarah recommended who specializes in natural childbirth. I'm pretty excited about it. If we switch to Dr. Michele, we'll be having our baby at Olathe Medical Center. I'll update later to let everyone know how that went.

Today I feel like I'm going to explode with happiness!

The More You Know....

I learned today at the neurologist that I was NOT having small strokes last week but in fact something called a "complicated migraine". This is where instead of getting the headache part of the migraine, you experience stroke-like symptoms. In my case, speech dysfunction. Example: saying "bedroom" in response to every question and "bitto" instead of burrito, and "met" instead of "mad". Very freaky and scary. But now instead of going hysterical and thinking that i'm having an aneurysm, i can just sigh and hope that Mark can translate for me and wait for it to pass. I'd rather have 5 minutes of crazy talk than temporary paralysis on one side of my body or something. lol. :D

spaghettios and mashed potatoes...

is pretty much all i want to eat.

well, on sunday i'll be 10 weeks pregnant. *cheers!*

i definitely was NOT prepared to feel as bad as i do though.

Pretty much everyday i'm either doing some hardcore slothing on the couch or sleeping alot. I've managed to get out and about a little bit and even babysat for awhile yesterday. But mostly, i feel terrible and just want to fast forward to the good part.

No, i haven't hurled yet, but the constant fatigue and queasiness seems like a worse punishment than just barfing and getting it over with.

At this point, i really don't understand how anyone has more than one child. now that i'm wise to pregnancy's evil plan, i'm pretty sure that i'm done after this. lol.

and for the first time in my life, i'm worried about LOSING weight. how can this be?? I've lost like 7 pounds i think. the books say starting in the second trimester (march 2) i need to be gaining a pound a week, but for now, i guess it's okay to lose.

that's my update. also, i need hugs. :)

Cyndie + Frannie = Cute!

We Voted!

Bright & Early! okay, it was still dark....and i was in my pajamas, and we were registered at a different address, and the elderly women at the polling station couldn't find the change of address forms, and one of them was nearly deaf. She thought my name was Joelle for about five minutes. They were pretty cute. :D

Yay we voted in the Missouri Presidential Primary! Go Barack Obama!

Fran White is a Genius!

Thanks to Fran for being a super smartypants and coming up with the idea to just take pictures of the sonograms instead of scanning! Viva la Fran!

The second pic is just a zoom in of the first. If you squint and use your imagination, it sort of looks like a baby. lol. :) The head is bottom left and the feet nubbies are top right. I kinda think I can see the hand nubs but I'm not sure.
