Sonogram #3

Today we went to clear up our twin confusion and confirmed there is yes still ONE baby with an awesome strong heartbeat and who looks like a gummi bear! lol. :D

Mark tried to scan our sonogram pics at work, but unfortunately they didn't scan well. :(

Hopefully when we go to see if it's a girl or a boy, we can get video and/or pics on a cd. but that's a couple of months away.

We go back to the doctor in a month. so until then, i'm just going to pray for no more migraines and that I can make it through all the queasies okay.

P.S. I'm a wussy at being sick, so if anyone wants to bring me treats and fawn over me n' stuff, I wouldn't mind. :D plus, then you can see our sonogram pics of Gummi (new embryo nickname)

Pity Party

Next sonogram (#3) has been rescheduled to next thurs. instead of tues.

Also, I've been not feeling so hot this week. Last week was queasy, this week was skull shattering migraines. Super FUN!! Plus, my yearly winter sinus smackdown is full steam ahead, which is super mega fun!

On a positive note..... I'm pregnant! :D

only a month to go! sunday is two months down!

Heartbeat!

We saw ONE baby today with a good strong heartbeat!!! yayyyyyy!!!! the doctor wants another sonogram next tues just to make sure everything is okay....maybe because of the confusion last week with the two sacs.

The sonographer thought we were probably at 6 weeks instead of 7, so that would add a week onto my due date making it sept. 14 and not sept. 7.

My pregnancy symptoms have gotten really noticeable in the last week. I'm pretty queasy from mid afternoon till bedtime. I bought some natural ginger ale and Preggie Pops (lollipops for morning sickness). those seem to be helping. someone told me i should take my vitamins later in the day as well. i can't eat very much at a time and I have to eat every hour or so, oh and I get tired REALLY easily. going to lunch and to target yesterday exhausted me so much that i came home and slept for 2 hours! oh, and i swear my belly is getting bigger already!

Mark is going to try to get the sonograms that we have so far scanned soon. hopefully i can get those up this week. This is very exciting!!

Frannie McHumpersons

I'm not sure how to put this delicately, but we have a humping cat. lol.

The other night I was innocently reading in bed when I was disturbed by what felt like a cat trying to lay on my legs and repeatedly falling off while "making bread" with his paws. I wasn't really paying attention at first but noticed when I tried to shake him off that he was immovable.

That's when I looked down and realized....oh...my...god. "MMMAAAARRRRRRKKKKK!!!!! COME HEREEEEE!!!!!" Mark skidded into the room thinking I was having some pregnancy problem and was relieved but at the same time totally grossed out by the site that awaited. I heard a soft "ewwww" come from the stairwell where Cyndie was perched. lol.

we all kind of stared in horror for a minute. then mark attempted to remove the humper from my leg and was met with great resistance and vocal protest. finally I was freeeee! when it was all over mark confessed: "he's been humping me at nite too!!! i thought he was just trying to crawl on me! i feel so dirty!!" lol!

feeling violated and worried that we had some sort of molester cat, mark spent the whole next day googling "cat humping" at work. lol. apparently this is a rather common problem. who knew? mark thinks frannie is "attracted" to the micro fleece blanket we have on the bed sometimes. so i guess now we need to find Frannie a micro fleece "lovey" and hopefully he won't be so interested in our innocent legs anymore.

Doula Doula

From Wikipedia: "A doula is an experienced, non-medical assistant who provides physical, emotional and informed choice support in prenatal care, during childbirth and during the postpartum period."

We have an interview appt. with a doula next Thurs. I'm pretty psyched about the idea of having a doula and really want it to work out. It's sort of part of my compromise to going with an OB instead of a midwife and giving birth in a hospital instead of in a birth center or at home. I just want someone there to help me fight off the drug pushing nurses and scalpel happy doctors if at all possible. According to the books I need to keep my birth plan "flexible" so I'm giving it my best.

P.S. Every time I hear the word "doula" I think of my grandfather sitting at the grand piano singing "Boula Boula" (Yale's Fightsong- my aunt Julia's alma mater) in his booming voice and me giggling uncontrollably and thinking he was the greatest grandpa in the world. :)

Embryo in tha House Yo!

We had bloodtest confirmation that we are pregnant! Yayyyyyy!!

In the last 4 days I've already accumulated 12 books from friends and a Pregnancy Journal. Mark's Father-to-be books have been ordered online and are on their way, and I've started knitting a fuzzy white baby blanket. :D We even went window shopping at Babies-R-Us yesterday.

So, we are pretty excited and still sort of in shock. I keep wondering how it's possible to be in shock over something you've been planning for years...but it is.

Our first pre-natal doctor's appt. is Jan 15. Next Sunday I'll be six weeks pregnant. and this is what "Embryo"(That's our name for baby right now. lol.) will look like. Size = BB Pellet

SO CUTE!!!
Oh, and according to a chart in one of the books, my due date would be Sept. 8th! 3 days after Mark's B-day!

P.S. I know some people wait until after the first trimester to start singing from the mountaintops about their bun in the oven, but it's not really my style to keep things secret. So we'll stay positive and deal with things as they come.

Correction: I keep getting confused on how many weeks pregnant and the age of the fetus, which is two weeks different. So the picture above would actually be a 6 week old embryo (pregnancy @ 8 weeks). Isn't it weird that you start being pregnant before you actually conceive? lol. :D
